Network design
From Sysadmin
No two networks are identical and many local factors have an impact on the design of the network. Networks tend to start out as clean and ordered and develop idiosyncrasies over time. A key component of network design and management is to minimise or (if possible) completely stop them. The major causes of systemic network problems have their origin in:
- Poor initial design decisions
- Stopgap fixes to immediate problems at the expense of future maintainability
If these two problems can be minimised then a network can run for years with a minimum of problems.
- Clean Network Design
