Homogenous network

A homogenous network is one in which all or most of the systems run only a very small number of operating systems and hardware platforms. There is no strict definition of this term but it provides a guideline as to the advantages and disadvantages of running a homogenous network.

Recommended Approach

A recommended approach is to have a policy of selecting systems from a choice of one or two operating systems and architectures and only varying from this if the regular choices will not fulfill requirements.
