A skillful coder that produces code quickly.

Modern meaning within IT

Someone who legally tinkers and experiments with computer hardware and software, particularly FOSS. This term is often extended to other areas such that a rocketry hacker is one who tinkers and experiments legally with rockets.

Modern meaning within the wider community

Someone whe breaks in to systems. Computer professionals would be more likely to call this person a cracker.
